I have recently begun some research on the web application of Zoho. My first reaction after playing around with it a bit was the overall organization of it, and how it really brings lots of things together. I somewhat see it as an old fashioned "trapper keeper" that people my age used to use as an organizing tool in school. The application of Zoho is organized/can be organized together in one place. As I wrote in an earlier blog, I wish to incorporate a class wiki for my teaching, and Zoho offers it as a part of its package. It has the capabilities for read-only if so desired, but it also can be done together with other faculty members or students in a class. The wiki is a mostly simple application, and given our work from earlier this semester, it isn't too tough to figure out. Pictures and videos can be added, and word processes can be included from the Zohan writer (not all that different than Microsoft Word).
Other applications within Zoho that I appreciated was the ability to chat with others through instant messaging, and also the Zoho planner. On my current computer, I have a separate calandar of events, and I have two different messaging applications (Yahoo and AIM) that I use. It does get rather confusing when I have so many things in very different places. I can only dream about the time that can be saved by throwing them all into one place. The downside to both of these applications are that first of all, I know nobody that uses Zoho, and in order to chat with them, they need to be a member of it. I would suppose that if every member of our faculty joined, that we would have the opportunity for online communication from our own offices. The other downside is that it relies once again on the web, and as many of you know, it doesn't always function properly in school, and when using some of the applications with students (wiki, word processor, chatting) there is always the issue of those not having the ability to access it.
Overall, I think that there are a lot of possibilities with this very organized set of applications, and before setting up my own wiki, I will look to start it with this program (that is unless someone else found an application that is better, but I read that Zoho is much more efficient that google). I would recommend looking into it.

I agree! Zoho seemed to be a pretty comprehensive application. I plan to experiment with it more this summer! I think your idea of using the wiki for your class is awesome! I hope it works out!
Laura
I had never heard of Zoho before your post. I just check it out a little and it looks very similar to Google Docs but I will be digging into it deeper based on your reflection.
Thanks.
