R/D13

We will keep this light. In Chapter 31 (R/D13), what most made you say (or think) "that's so neat!" Why?
What was your favorite activity of the semester and why?

The section regarding the Advanced Performance Tracking got the most of my attention. Years ago, I went through something similar to what was described with the tennis example, but with my golf game. It really was effective for me, so it obviously worked with tecniques in athletics, now I would like to see if it could work in music! It would be very beneficial for both my students and myself to have a technical evaluation done on playing or singing technique. That would allow a diagnosis of what is good and what isn't, and then to design a way to fix the problems, and to enhance what is already good. Once that design is in progess, it would be good to re-evaluate to see what progress has been made, for the teacher, and also the student for encouragement.
In this semester, I can say I have enjoyed the activities involving the building of the Wiki and the Google webpages the most. I felt that they were the most applicable for me and my teaching. Going into this class, I hoped to not only learn about new techniques and ideas, but also to learn how to apply them well in my teaching. I think that I can achieve that with those two activities, and feel good about the prospects of using them in the coming school year.

Applying the performance tracking to music is a great idea. The interactive suites could help teach rhythm.
I liked the wiki activity the best too. There may be hope for online collaboration. I liked that it was an authentic activity.

I am also curious as to how this application could help the education world. I definitely think it would be a great idead to apply it to music. It seems like teaching students to play an instrument would be similar to playing a sport.

Sounds like advanced performance tracking could be a neat way to use technology to help your students increase muic skills. Wiki and the Google webpages were both fun activities. I think your students will enjoy these activities. Wiki seems to be a great way to collaborate in a group. With google webpages students have an easy way to make webpages(in your case they could make pages dealing with music)
